The Saskatchewan Liberal Party has rebranded itself with a new name, logo, and platform.

They have emerged as the Saskatchewan Progress Party (SPP), making it a viable alternative to the two historic parties; the Saskatchewan and New Democratic Parties.

Their new logo is a red, blue, and yellow swirl, which SPP leader Jeff Walters says will help bring people together and unite the province beyond diverse politics.

“We want to build a bright future that sees all people of Saskatchewan working together to make our province a place to call home,” Walters said in a press release.

Walters says the new branding of the party is just step one to serving the citizens of Saskatchewan and making a better life for all.

“It’s time. If we aim to modernize and bring the province into the future, we must be willing to do the same,” explained Walters.

Moving forward the SPP will be meeting with residents across the province and hearing their concerns.

In addition, a policy convention will be held in October to review and build on their current policies, with input from the people of Saskatchewan.

The name change comes after the Saskatchewan Liberal Party passed a motion for the change on March 25, 2023, at their Annual General Meeting.

Eighty-five percent of the constituency members voted in favour of the name change.

During the 2020 provincial election, the Liberal party only received 355 of the 444,997 votes, which equated to 0.08 per cent.
