The Fraser Institute has called Saskatchewan the best place in Canada for mining investment attractiveness. This comes from their 2021 Annual Survey of Mining Companies.

The survey calculates investment attractiveness based on a number of factors including jurisdictional stability, regulations, competitive tax regimes, infrastructure and geological attractiveness. There were 84 jurisdictions in the 2021 survey, and Saskatchewan was the top jurisdiction in Canada, and the second-best in the world, behind only Western Australia.

Canada’s critical minerals list indicates Saskatchewan has 23 of 31 critical minerals necessary for sustainable economic success. This includes potash, uranium, helium, lithium, copper and rare earth elements. In 2021, the province also accounted for 1/3 of the global potash production.

"Saskatchewan is poised to be a critical minerals powerhouse," Energy and Resources Minister Bronwyn Eyre said. "We are a global leader in uranium and potash production and an emerging producer of helium, lithium, copper, zinc and rare earths. The world needs what Saskatchewan has to offer."
