Saskatchewan Health has now identified one-hundred and one positive mosquito pools in the province with over fifty percent in the Sun Country Health Region.

However, despite sixty-nine West Nile positive pools, only one human case of the illness has been confirmed in the southeast.

According to Philip Curry, an Entomologist and Provincial West Nile Virus Coordinator, Alberta and Manitoba are also experiencing higher than normal mosquito populations with Culex Tarsalis, the mosquitoes that carry the virus, having made an earlier appearance than usual.
