A gathering in Macoun led to police officers pulling over a side by side.

"We had stopped one side by side vehicle leaving a function in Macoun. While we were in the middle of doing that, another police car attempted to stop a quad leaving the same function. The quad refused to stop for police," shared Constable Daniel Gaignard.

"It's our best practice to not pursue anything, especially an off-road vehicle. It's just too dangerous," he explained.

"We were stopping vehicles for a good hour before we stopped the side by side and we were not trying to be very secretive about it. We drove right through the parking lot prior, so people knew the police were in town. Once we got involved in the first investigation regarding the event it didn't become difficult to continue to stop vehicles, even though nothing else was found that evening."

It's never acceptable to drive when impaired, no matter the distance.

"It's only a matter of time before someone does get hurt and we don't want to get to that point," expressed Gaignard.

"Once again, remember to slow down on the highway and watch for those construction zones. We really need to pay attention to the signage and act accordingly."
