Sports clubs in Estevan are hoping to keep building steam after a couple of years impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Several sports organizations were among the groups at City Wide Registration in Estevan Tuesday night. And at least a couple cited a lull in numbers since 2019.

Estevan Minor Football President Kevin Mortenson said they're ready to continue rebuilding their program.

"We lost a couple numbers in 2021, just because people were still unsure if there was going to be a season or not, especially with football being a contact sport. But we're all systems go. We're ready to get out there and give 'er again this year., building on any successes we had last year."

The U10 Power Dodge Cudas, U12 Coldwell Banker Chargers, U14 Estevan Lions Club Oilers, and U18 Estevan Kinette Club Viragos are all getting ready for their next seasons, with the Viragos not taking place until the fall semester.

Estevan Challenger Baseball, which is a league for youth and adults with cognitive or physical disabilities, is back for 2023.

Christine Jones said they've run into a few disruptions since their 2019 inception.

"We had taken a bit of a hiatus, we'd started in 2019, obviously in 2020 we weren't able to play, we had a brief season in 2021, and due to health issues with me we didn't have a season in 2022, so we are back and stronger than ever."

The TS&M Woodlawn Jr. Golf Program was there too, looking to build up the sport in the region.

"We're just encouraging youth to get out there, hit some balls, learn how to use some clubs, and hope they get the love for golf," said Veronique Borgford.

The Estevan Public Library, Souris Valley Theatre, Estevan Youth Soccer, Estevan Golden Eels Swimming Club, Estevan Drone Racing, Estevan Public Youth Centre, OM Yoga Studio, and Starfish Swimming Canada Swimming Lesson registration were also slated for City Wide.
