The St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation is thrilled with how their 10th-annual Festival of Trees turned out over the weekend.

The event returned to its usual in-person form after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the foundation to adjust the fundraiser for the last two years.

Around 640 people enjoyed dinner during Saturday night's Gala, which featured Saskatchewan Country Music Association Hall of Fame member Codie Prevost.

"Saturday was actually fantastic," said SJHF Executive Director Lori Gervais. "We didn't know what it was going to be like after coming back from a bit of a hiatus there through COVID, we didn't have any in-person events. So we were very excited to have everybody back and see everybody in person. And it went as well as could have been expected."

Sunday's Hometown Family Fun Day featured activities across town that were available by donation, including a leisure swim and Santa's Workshop at the Leisure Centre and Christmas movies at the Orpheum.

"The Festival of Trees has been part of our community for the last 10 years, and it's been the biggest fundraiser that we have for the hospital foundation," said Gervais. "It just involves the community in such a respect that shows how unbelievably supportive this community is. And they step up for us every single time."

The foundation helps provide new equipment at the hospital and facility upgrades, as well as assist in doctor recruitment.

The Estevan Kinettes held their Christmas Marketplace on Saturday, featuring over 70 vendors across the Wiley Mitchell Hall and Estevan Exhibition Hall in support of the foundation.

Gervais thanked volunteers, sponsors, and everyone who took part in the weekend.
