A rolling Bears squad had their momentum come to an abrupt halt against a team tied for the most wins in the SMAAAHL Wednesday night.

The hosting Notre Dame Hounds improved to 21-6-1 with an 8-1 win over Estevan, ending the Bears' franchise-high three-game win streak.

The Hounds had a pair of goals from Johnny Lopez at the Duncan McNeill Arena in Wilcox and three assists from Vincent Palmarin.

The Hounds outshot Estevan 45-32 and were 5-for-8 on the power play.

Rookie forward Marshall Light scored his sixth goal for Estevan. The even-strength marker gave the Moosomin native 19 points - fourth-best among the Bears, and tops out of their first-year players. Levi Herauf had the lone assist.

The Bears were scoreless on five power plays, and fell to 8-15-5.

Their next games are in Saskatoon, against the 13-6-3 Contacts Saturday night and the 18-4-1 Blazers Sunday afternoon.
