Effective immediately, all repeat drunk drivers, by way of indictment and on conviction, may have their vehicles forfeited.

According to Minister of Justice and Attorney General Don Morgan, this can occur in such instances where an offender has two convictions within two years, three or more convictions within four years, or a prior conviction within two years of the date of the current offence plus two or more within four years.

Forfeiture can also occur when a repeat offender is convicted of impaired driving causing bodily harm or death.
