The Estevan Police Service released its 2023 quarter one report Monday, outlining some numbers from different areas of policing.

In the report, EPS said they conducted 12 targeted traffic enforcement operations. which led to 500 charges being laid. The service also conducted three checkstops and inspected 635 vehicles.

EPS said there were nine impaired driving charges, and seven driver's license suspensions due to cannabis.

There were 15 motor vehicle collisions: six in January, one in February, and eight in March.

The service also focused on drugs, with $76,661 worth of drugs being seized in the first quarter. This included 291.3 grams of cocaine, 20.8 grams of fentanyl/carfentanil, 20.3 grams of meth, and 209 other pills. There have been 11 drug-related arrests so far this year.

Some other notable numbers included:

  • 17 per cent of reported criminal incidents resulted in charges
  • 35 hours of foot patrol conducted
  • 1,440 hours dedicated to training
  • $112,200 in government funding for EPS positions

The recently-formed Police and Crisis Team (PACT) was also called into service, with 55 calls for mental health emergencies. PACT was deployed 40 times in the first quarter.
