A train derailment occurred Thursday morning just outside of Macoun.

There have reportedly been several rural residences evacuated. Motorists are being asked to follow detours set up around the area on Highway 39 and the grid roads.

The Estevan RCMP said no injuries have been reported.

Pictures from the scene show multiple railroad cars which have toppled over and caught on fire.

Emergency personnel are located throughout the area.

Road blocked off

A perimeter has been set up around the scene, including Highway 39 blocked off around a mile east of Macoun by the RCMP.

CP said in a statement at 11:13 a.m. that "crews are responding to a train derailment approximately a mile north of Macoun, Sask. Local emergency response crews have also responded to the incident."
