The Estevan Viragos wrapped up their spring season with a 35-14 loss to the Swan River Bengals on Sunday afternoon.

The neutral site game was played in Melville.

Aurora McCutcheon, who will compete at nationals this summer in Ottawa, scored both touchdowns for the Viragos. Both majors came in the second half.

"Everything was staring to jell in the second half, but it was a little too late. Very proud of the 12 or 13 girls that showed up for the game," said acting Head Coach Kevin Mortenson, who added that the game was played 6 on 6.

The Viragos also forced the only turnover in the game, and did not turn the ball over themselves in any of their three spring league games. Mortenson also reflected on the spring season as a whole.

"A lot of steps that were big steps that were made yesterday and this spring season," McCutchen said. "Just nothing but proud of the girls and the coaching staff obviously."

The Viragos now break for the summer before resuming game action in the fall.

Also, the Viragos will be known as the Southeast Saskatchewan Viragos moving forward, as the team tries to expand its moniker outside of Estevan.
