If your plans this weekend include spending time outside, you will need some sunscreen and lots of water. However, there is still a low pressure system that will keep the sun away for today.

"We are looking at a trough of low pressure move through Friday. So I think people will see some showers and thunderstorms by the end of the day that people should be planning for," explains regional meteorologist, Terri Laing. "But after that, we'll see that bridge build in and it looks like a decent weekend."

"Over the weekend, it actually looks quite nice. There's a ridge of high pressure building in that should give some drier conditions and not much in the way of wind and warm temperatures."

With the hot temperatures, it always brings the danger of thunderstorms.

"This time of year, there's always showers and thundershowers and we want people to have the awareness that with the thundershowers, especially in regards to the lightening, that they take precautions. I know people in this province like watching lightening but it is dangerous so we always say 'When thunder roars, go indoors'."

And there is always the problem of overindulging in the heat.

"The other thing we're getting into now is the heat. Because we've been sitting indoors with sweaters on for a number of months, people often forget about the heat and that it can wear down on you, especially if it's over a couple days. Take precautions if you're out in the heat. Drink lots of water, and always wear your sunscreen. We're seeing some really high UV index readings."

"Enjoy the weather but use common sense."
