Health Officials have now determined that although the West Nile Virus was a contributing factor in the death of an eighty year old woman in the Sun Country Health Region, it was not the cause of death.

According to Chief Medical Health Officer Doctor Shauna Hudson, approximately fifty cases of the West Nile Virus have been identified in the Region since Monday, with over three hundred in the province, numbers unseen since 2003.

She adds that we're now moving out of the peak risk period for the virus, but residents are still reminded to take precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
