Thursday night's snowfall covered the southeast, and it's causing a few adverse driving conditions on highways in the region.

Highways for most of the area are listed on the Highway Hotline as being in winter driving condition. You can expect to encounter loose, drifting, and swirling snow. You could also run into some icy and slippery sections, as they were cited in the Weyburn area in Friday morning's highway update.

Snow is not the only factor affecting traffic flow in the area. The fire from Thursday's train derailment near Macoun continues to burn, and Highway 39 was still blocked for traffic in both directions as of 5 a.m. Friday.

Some light snow is expected to taper off Friday morning. Temperatures are set to plunge below -20 C in the afternoon, with strong winds making it feel close to -40 C.
