Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring.

Strong southeasterly winds of 70 gusting to 90 km/h will develop in southern Saskatchewan this afternoon.

These winds will gradually subside this evening. Please stay alert to updated warnings as more regions may be added later today. Please refer to the public forecast for more information.

Damage to buildings, such as roof shingles and windows, may occur.

Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage.

Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds.

SGI media relations manager Tyler McMurchy said to take a few extra steps to secure items like patio furniture and garbage cans.

"It will reduce the likely hood of you getting damage. Also, keep an eye on your roof for broken shingles."

Next weekend the wind is expected to die down.

"Clean up as soon as possible and seek professional help to take whatever steps are necessary to reduce damage in the future."
