The 16U National Championship League water polo season continued this past weekend with teams traveling to the Kinsmen Centre in Edmonton, AB for a tournament.

Logan Dalziel, Lucas Dzeryk, Cameron Gillingham, Tristan Threinen and Nathan Threinen were among the male players that made up Team Sask.  The boys hit the water on Friday night with their first game against Edmonton the Mako Tsunami and found Cameron hitting the back of the net once with rest of the boys playing great defense for the team that led them to a 15-11 win.  They went on to play Calgary Wild on Saturday morning where Cameron scored 3 goals and once again the boys secured a 12-7 win.

The boys went on to play the Mako Tsunami again later Saturday evening and once again the boys found themselves in the lead at half time, but after a strong comeback from the Tsunami, Team Sask was tied up with them with 30 seconds go to.  The coaches called a time out and after regrouping the boys, but unfortunately, the Tsunami took the lead and with 20 seconds to go they scored the final goal of the night and took the game in a 15-14 loss for Team Sask. The boys ended the weekend with a 3-1 record which currently puts them in 4th place in the Western League.

The next play for the 16U team will be in Surrey, BC this weekend (February 28 – March 3).
