The rough ride hasn't got any easier for the Toronto Blue Jays.

Coming off the All-Star game on July 11th, the team went through another roller coaster of ups and downs, wins and losses.

They first headed to Detroit, where they started off strong with a 7-2 victory, then fell short in the series 2-1. Their visit to the Boston Red Sox proved to be a bit better, coming out winning 2 out of the four games. Then they headed to Cleveland, where things went downhill for the next two games after a 13-3 loss to the Indians.

Moving on to Oakland, they regained some confidence with a sweep of the four games against the Athletics. However, that was once again crushed after dropping 2 of 3 to the Los Angles Angels. Hitting the Chicago White Sox at the beginning of the new month, they managed to nab the last two out of three before taking a break on the 3rd.

Back at it again the next day, they paid a visit to the Houston Astros, and were immediately crunched under foot, starting with a 16-7 loss. After another off day it was time to host the New York Yankees in Rogers Centre, and although the three game series was blemished with one loss, it turned out alright as they finished it off with a 4-0 shutout victory.

Still at home, they took on the Pittsburgh Pirates, coming out on top in the series 2-1 and prepared to face one of their frequent opponents, the Tampa Bay Rays. Taking that sequence of games 3-1, it was time to hit the road back to Chicago, where they were promptly swept under the mat by the Cubs heading into another break.

Back on the road again, this time returning the favor to the Tampa Bay Rays, scores of 6-5 for the home team, 7-6 for the visitor and 2-0 for the home kept the series just out of reach.

Upon returning to Toronto, the Jays hit the diamond to face the Twins from Minnesota, and despite a 10-9 win they dropped the other two games and the series. A visit from the Boston Red Sox turned out even worse as they were swept once again.

Heading into the month of September with an 11-8 victory against the Baltimore Orioles, they finished off that series with a split after adding a 7-2 win.

Playing against the Boston Red Sox for the 5th time so far in the season, the Jays began to show some teeth. Opening the three game series on the 4th with a 10-4 win, they proceeded to lose the final two, but not without a fight. It took the Sox 19 innings to bring the Jays down, finally squeezing 3 runs to 2, ending the game in the wee hours of the morning. The third game resulted in a 6-1 loss for Toronto.

Taking a break on September 7th, the Detroit Tigers will then come to town.

Sitting on a record of 64-76, 12 games below .500, many believe that the Blue Jays' season is beyond salvage. However, the team seems reluctant to throw in the towel just yet.
