It's been a big season for Bienfait's Carson Perkins, who this year has played NCAA level baseball with the Canisius Griffins after time with the Midget Southeast Twins.

After taking the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference with an 11-00 win over Monmouth, they moved on to the NCAA tournament where they ended their run with a 10-1 loss to the Golden Gophers.

"This year's my sophomore year, it was awesome. We were projected to win our conference at the start of the year, and we ended up placing third after six or seven walk off losses in our season, so kind of a heartbreaker," he said.

With a tie for first between two other teams, the Griffins were held in third, to which Perkins said they were 'bummed out' about.

"But it's double elimination, so all teams are equal as long as you make it, and we were pretty confident. It was pretty cool to go and win it all in New York."

He added that the victory ranks pretty high in his baseball career so far, right up there with his time on Team Canada.

Perkins' Interview With Erik Swar:

His close proximity to Buffalo, NY while on campus was another new and exciting experience for Perkins.

"Canisius is right in the center of Buffalo, right in the mid city, so being a kid from Saskatchewan it was kind of a culture shock...honestly, I like the city life, I'm not much of a country kid."

"Uh, yeah," was his immediate response when asked if he was a part of 'Bill's Mafia' yet.

"At the end of the season, the 'Bill's Mafia' has the tradition before games to jump through or throw people through tables, and our coach gave us permission if we won the tournament that my buddy and I could jump through a couple in the locker room," he explained, "I think, after that, I'm qualified to be a Bill's fan."

He'll spend the rest of the summer training and honing himself before returning to school, adding that a professional career in baseball is the long term goal, while also gaining credentials for physical and health education.
