Over 270 brave golfers were on the links at the TS&M Woodlawn Golf Course on Saturday, battling soggy ground, a cold wind and rain, and a power outage as they took part in the 61st annual OTS golf tournament. The event wrapped up with a shotgun start on a sunny Sunday to end things on a bright note.

This year's winner of the 36 hole contest was Anthony Melle, shooting a 69 despite the adverse weather to take home the championship for a third time. It was a close match, however, as Nolan Rohatyn gave him a run for it coming into the 18th hole. Warren Waldegger won the 18 hole event with a 79.

"This year we ended up with about 275 golfers between our 18 and 36 hole events, which is up about 30 plus from the previous year. It's a nice, positive trend, especially in consideration of the weather. Surprisingly, we didn't have to have a whole lot of people who didn't at least get out there and tee off. Some of them didn't finish, but everyone made an effort," stated Conrad Meili, the President of the Estevan Oilfield Technical Society.

"(It's) some good golf played out there always in that event, and there's definitely some good golfers inside the oilfield."
