For the first time, the TS&M Bantam AA Bruins held an awards ceremony to celebrate and honor the achievements of their athletes.

"We put in six awards, plus the Prairie Storm had given us the Mike Sarada Memorial Award earlier this season. All in all, it was a good night, kind of nice to have those awards for the kids to work towards. It's a good thing," stated Head Coach Tom Copeland.

Colby Cuddington took home the Rookie of the Year and 'The Colby', an award named after Colby Himmelspeck, while Adrien Riddell was given the Mike Sarada Memorial Award for Hardest Working Player. Zane Winter was named Most Valuable Player, and Turner McMillan was recognized as the year's Top Scorer. In addition, Mason Kukura was hailed as the Top Defensive Player.

Copeland also went into an explanation of the origins of 'The Colby'.

"Long story short, it's a representation of who the best teammate is on our team, who's the guy that brings something to the table that doesn't necessarily show up in the stats line, and Colby (Himmelspeck) was that guy for us two years ago. When we started thinking about who that was this year, Colby Cuddington just kept sticking out as a great kid and had a way of keeping the room loose and together."

Looking ahead to next season, he added that some changes are coming down the line in light of several top players being drafted and selected for the next level. However, with a lot of returnees as well, there will be lots to look forward to as well.
