The Estevan Bantam Oilers have quite a few lessons to take away from what is being called a 'growth' season.

They finished 4th of four in the standings with an 0-6 record.

"The kids faced a lot of adversity this year, with low numbers and a lot of injuries that we had. They fought really hard and pushed through as best as they could. It was a growth year for them, and next year we look to battle back, have a few more kids sign up, and put forth a good effort," said Head Coach Paul Duncan.

However, despite the fatigue and struggles caused by lack of death and subsequent injuries, the season showed the kid's true mental fortitude.

"They really were able to dig deep and find out what it is to really work out there, and put forth their best effort. At the end of the day, it's really tough, because of fresh legs on the other side beating you down. But they were really resilient. They stepped up, and I think it was a great growth thing for the kids, to prepare them for next year whether it's at high school or back at bantam."

Duncan added that they plan to step up recruiting ideas throughout the off season, such as holding a couple football camps during the winter, to try and bolster awareness of, and interest in, the sport.
