The Midget AA Estevan Power Tech Bear Cats fell short in game two of the South Saskatchewan Female Hockey League final on Tuesday night in Estevan.

Up 1-0 in the best-of-three series with a chance to put the Regina Ravens to rest in front of the home crowd, it just wasn't meant to be.

"We just lost our defensive zone coverage's," explained Bear Cats Head Coach, Trevor Morrison. "We got outworked a bit in our own end and they banged in a few and got the momentum. We made too many mistakes in our own end, you have to give them credit, they were hungry, that's why they finished top in the regular season."

After the two clubs exchanged goals in the first period including one from Karli Colpitts, Marci Leblanc broke the tie just two minutes into the second period to give the Bear Cats a 2-1 lead. The Ravens would come to life just two minutes later on their way to score four straight goals and take a 5-2 lead heading into the third period.

Morgan Haygarth cut into the Ravens lead once more for the Bear Cats when she found the back of the net with just over 12 minutes remaining in the third. Just moments later, Ravens captain Neena Brick would put the team on her back and score four straight goals to end the game 9-3 in favor of the Ravens.

"We poured it on for the first eight minutes of that period, we scored to make it a two goal game and with a couple bounces our way we could have tied it. We had a chance and it didn't work out but we'll be ready to go on Thursday."

"We need to go in there with a positive attitude and know we can beat them. Each girl needs to go in there and bring their game, it's not the name on the back, it's all one color and we need to play as a unit. I'm very confident we're going to come out in game three and give it our best effort," Morrison concluded.

The decisive game three match up takes place on Thursday in Regina at 8:00 p.m.
