After opening their season with a 6-0 win over the Arcola/Kisbey Combines, the Carlyle Cougars have now lost 15 straight games.

Heading into Wednesday nights match up with the Wawota Flyers, the Cougars are looking to build off of a difficult start to their season and turn things around in the second half.

"Definitely we thought we would have a few more wins in the column, we've had lot's of tight games," said Cougars Head Coach, Tim Lequyer. "We went through a stretch where our starting goalie was injured and that created some challenges but also gave some guys an opportunity to play more along with some other injuries."

Sitting one point ahead of the Combines, the 1-14-1 Cougars currently hold the final playoff spot in the Big Six and know they'll be in tough down the stretch.

"We're looking forward to the second half to try and continue to be competitive and see what happens. We'll have our work cut out for us and hopefully we have our right group of guys show up in the right frame of mind. Definitely the guys have work commitments and there's been a bit of that, it's not so much the guys not being able to make the games, it's the inexperience of our group on how they play night in and night out, that's been our challenge with the young core group we have."

Most recently, the Cougars have come close to ending their streak with an over time loss and a couple of blown leads. The Head Coach knows what his team is capable of, and expects a higher compete level moving forward.

"We have to play our system and we have to compete. Our goal is to try and play one goal games, we can't get into shoot-outs with some of these teams, they have more fire power than we do and we know that so when we stick to our system we are very competitive and when we don't we're not it's very simple," Lequyer concluded.
