Friday night was busy for senior men's hockey, with four different games taking place across the southeast in the Big Six Hockey League.

The Yellow Grass Wheat Kings played host to the Bienfait Coalers, where Justin Richter and Dylen Frey both made their presence felt with two goals each for the home team.

It was Kyle Mryglod who put the first points on the scoreboard, dumping a puck past Bienfait nettender Zack Miller. Ricther also nailed his first of the night, while Jason Hengen and Dallas Kickley scored for the Coalers. Coming out of the intermission deadlocked at 2-2, Richter got things started as teammate Devin Cobbold followed suit. Bienfait added another two, however, those were matched by another pair from Yellow Grass, making it 6-4 heading into the third frame. Each side added one more goal in that time, but Drew Felner eventually found the back of the net for the game winner for the Wheat Kings, who skated away with the 8-6 win.

The first place Carnduff Red Devils hit the road to Redvers, where they then took all the gas out of the Rockets' tanks.

While both teams matched scores in the first frame with one goal each, the visitors exploded in the second with four, answered by only one from Redvers. Both netminders then stepped up to show their stuff, stopping every puck in the third period. Carnduff added another tally to their win column with a commanding 5-2 victory.

The Midale Mustangs went for a road trip to Oxbow to face off against the Huskies, where they were also able to pick up another win.

Evan Kesslerins and Tyler Vandestype got the ball rolling for Midale in the first frame, and while Michael Hengen tried to even things out for Oxbow, the two teams entered the first intermission at 2-1. The second period saw both teams explode offensively with three goals each, but three more netted pucks by the Mustangs in third, answered by only one, sealed the deal on an 8-5 win for the visitors.

Meanwhile, the 8th place Carlyle Cougars headed to Arcola for what looked to be an easy match against the basement dwelling Combines. However, they were in for a surprise.

Cooper Fox kicked things off for Carlyle in the first period, before Carter Birch stepped up for Arcola to even things out. Mark Shaw and Brett Turgeon both added tallies in that time as well for the Cougars, however, that would be that last time the Combines would hear from their oppononts. Arcola netminder Rylan Kulyck spent the next two frames blocking every shot that came at him, while his teammates three more into the mesh to nab their first victory of the season 5-3.

The final Big Six action of the year happens Saturday night, as the Carlyle Cougars head to Wawota to take on the Flyers, and the Oxbow Huskies visit the Mustangs in Midale.
