Big Six: 3-3 Teams Meet

As for the Friday Night, the four games going on had some swing over some of the standings.

Redvers @ Bienfait

Both teams had four games in the win column coming into the contest, although the Rockets had done it in only five games, whereas Bienfait needed seven.

Bienfait comes into the night fresh off a win in Kipling/Windthorst, their second straight after a three game losing streak. A win over Redvers would put them one game back of the league lead.

Redvers on the other hand was riding a three game winning streak into the away game against the Coalers, the last of which was a 6-3 victory over the Oxbow Huskies.

The first period started off with both teams firing shots at the net but neither goaltender would budge until the 14:50 mark. Drew Hoff would pot the game's first goal for the visiting Rockets, and that lead would hold through the rest of the first and through the entire second as well.

After the first two periods: 1-0 Redvers

In the third period, the home team would find the scoring touch they had found a twenty four hours ago in Kipling, starting with their leading scorer. Dylan Herzberg potted the first goal of three in a row for the Coalers, and three minutes he would add another for his team.

The third of those three goals would come from Cole Piche, his first of the year and the last goal of the game, capping off the home win for the Coalers with half the period left to play.

Final score: 3-1 Bienfait

Oxbow @ Carnduff

After their game agaisnt the Redvers Rockets was moved, the Huskies only had one game out of what was supposed to be a two game weekend, and with only two wins in seven games, they could use the win over the Red Devils.

As For Carnduff, they sit two points back of the league lead, and they beat one of the teams in the league, the Carlyle Cougars, the night before. With a win over Oxbow, they would join the tie at the top with the Cougars and the Yellow Grass Wheat Kings.

Carnduff would state their case for a spot at the top of the league in the opening minute of the first period. The team's leading scorer, Trevor Geiger, would put one past Ethan Veroba for the first goal of the game.

Then, only four minutes later, Sheldon Thompson would add his first goal of the season in just his fourth game.

After the first: 2-0 Carnduff

In the second, the two on the board would hold up for a while before either team would break the ice again, but again it would be the Red Devils with the score, this time from Tanner Reynolds, 3:36 left in the second.

Despite a lengthy list of penalties for the Red Devils in the second and a couple more in the third, the Red Devils couldn't find the net by the end of the contest and that score would stand until the end.

Final score: 3-0 Carnduff

Kipling/Windthorst @ Yellow Grass

Yellow Grass entered the weekend riding a four game winning streak, the only blemish being their second game of the season against the Bienfait Coalers in their second game.

The newest team to the league, Kipling/Windthorst has had their successes this year but were at risk of losing two in a row for the first time with a loss to Bienfait the night before.

The game would not go well for the Oil Kings, starting off just over a minute into the game. The Wheat Kings scored the first of the game off the stick of Thomas Carleton. Devin Cobbold and Brad Riege would add two more before the end of the period for the home team.

3-0 after one in Yellow Grass.

The second would add another four on the board for the Wheat Kings thanks to Braden Mellon, Reid Patterson, Cole Rooney, and Kashton Janzen for the 7-0 lead after two periods.

The third would add two more on the already lopdsided lead, giving Thomas Carleton his second of the game and Brandon Vertefeuille would add one more before the end of the game.

Final score: 9-0 Yellow Grass
