A busy Saturday night was seen in the Big Six Hockey League, with 4 games spread out across southeast Saskatchewan.

The Redvers Rockets played host to the Yellow Grass Wheat Kings, and held on for an eventual win.

Neither side could get the best of the other in the first period, and both entered the locker deadlocked at zero. 2 goals for Redvers in the second frame, to which Yellow Grass was only able to respond with one, resulted in the puck dropping under a score-clock that read 2-1 for the home squad. The Rockets found the back of the net 3 more times, while the Wheat Kings were only able to get one more embedded in the mesh, to bring the final score to 5-2.

A mirror image was seen in Wawota, as the Flyers hosted the Bienfait Coalers.

Both teams netted a puck in the first frame, bringing a 1-1 tie into the first intermission. However, 2 more unanswered goals from Wawota in the second period gave the Flyers some room, and the Coalers were unable to comeback. The Flyers found the net twice more in the game, while Bienfait was only able to answer with one. The final score read 5-2 for the 2016 championship defenders.

The league topping Carnduff Red Devils took on the Oxbow Huskies on home ice as well on Saturday night.

A back and forth first period saw the score read 3-2 heading into the second. That's where the action happened, as Oxbow found the net for 4 more tallies, as did Carnduff 3 times. Deadlocked at 6 a piece as the puck dropped for the third frame, Mark Moriarty dumped winning goal past Ethan Veroba with 31 seconds left to play to give Carnduff the 7-6 victory.

The Midale Mustangs also faced off against the Carlyle Cougars in Carlyle, who forced the game to overtime before Midale could nab the 5-4 winner.

Big Six Hockey action resumes on Wednesday, when the last place Arcola/Kisbey Combines head to Wawota to take on the Flyers.
