The Big Six Hockey League wrapped up 2017 with two games on Saturday night.

The Carlyle Cougars hit the road to visit the Flyers in the Wawota Community Forum for a home-dominated match. Ryan Taylor got things started for Wawota with the only goal in the first period. Carlyle began to bite back in the second with two goals, though those were answered and doubled by the Flyers. The third frame saw the hosts seal the deal, finding the mesh twice more to bring things to a 7-2 decision.

Meanwhile, the Midale Mustangs opened their doors to the Oxbow Huskies, only to slam them shut at the end of the game. Brycen Odgers snuck a puck past Midale's Jeff Daves to start the scoreboard, before the Mustangs quickly responded with one of their own 45 seconds later. Though the Huskies held their ground in the second frame, heading into the dressing room for the second intermission with a 2-1 lead, they were unable to hold it together. Tyler Hoium and Brad Tomiski put the nails in the coffin to give Midale the 4-3 victory.

The Big Six action resumes on January 5th, as the Carnduff Red Devils head to Oxbow. At the same time, coming off their first victory of the season, the Arcola/Kisbey Combines travel to Midale. Both pucks are set to drop at 8:00 PM.
