The first Saturday of December in the Big Six Hockey League resulted two completely different games, with one nail-biter and one blowout.

THREE SCORERS LEAD YELLOW GRASS OVER CARLYLE 8-1

HIGHLIGHTS:

As heard on CJ1150, the Yellow Grass Wheat Kings brought a short bench with them to Carlyle for Saturday night's game against the Cougars, but they did bring the right three players with them offensively.

In the opening period, Wheat Kings' forward Dylan Frey scored his first two goals of the season in the first eight minutes of the game to make it 2-0 after 20 minutes.

Carlyle would cut into the lead early in the second period. On a powerplay, Clayton Geiger cleaned up a rebound off the shot by Cooper Fox to make it 2-1.

The turning point in the game would come shortly thereafter. Fox would be sprung in on a breakaway against Yellow Grass netminder Tanner Erickson, who would turn Fox aside with a big save.

After that, it would be all Wheat Kings the rest of the way.

Tanner Erickson Made 27 Saves For Yellow Grass In The Win.

Devin Cobbold blasted his league-leading 10th goal of the season past Cougars' goaltender Kruz Wilson to make it 3-1 Yellow Grass. Minutes later, Corey Koski stepped over the blueline and sniped his 4th of the season in to make it 4-1. The Wheat Kings would earn two powerplays late in the period, and make them count with another goal from Cobbold (11) and the hat-trick marker from Frey to make it 6-1 heading into the third period.

Yellow Grass would add two more goals in the final frame, both off the stick of Koski (5,6) as he also registered a hat-trick en route to an 8-1 victory for the Wheat Kings.

Yellow Grass (4-3) wins back-to-back games for the first time this season, while Carlyle (1-7) sees their losing streak extend to a 7th straight game.

RED DEVILS HOLD ON FOR 5-4 WIN OVER MIDALE IN CARNDUFF

The Carnduff Red Devils continued their hot start to the season with a 5-4 victory over the Midale Mustangs at the Fast Centennial Arena, where Carnduff is now undefeated in four games at home.

The two teams were tied at 1-1 after the first period. Carnduff jumped out to a 4-2 lead after the 2nd period, and held on for a 5-4 victory over Midale. The Mustangs are the only team to have beaten Carnduff this season, winning 3-2 on November 17th in Midale.
