Six games at the weekend in the final three weeks of the Big Six Hockey League and after all of them, the playoff picture is looking clearer in some areas, and a little less clear in others, but with all teams making it to the playoffs, seeding even at the bottom of the league matters.

Friday

Wawota @ Oxbow

Oxbow struggled in the first half of the season but has started to come back towards the end of the year but still only has four wins on the season. As for the Flyers, they come into this game having not one a game since the start of the second half of the season.

Taysen Holt started the scoring off for the game less than three minutes into the game, and only a few moments later Matthew Weinrauch would add another to put the Huskies up by two, giving them the lead after the first period.

Then, over an entire period later, halfway through the second the Flyers would get on the board thanks to Taylor Ernst. Four minutes later, Derek Frater would add to his team leading total to tie his team up once again.

The period would not end a tie however, thanks to the Oxbow Huskies and Levi Barnstable with 2:24 left in the period, and the Huskies would take a 3-2 lead into the third.

That lead would fall apart almost immediately in the first minute of the third period when Ernst would get his second of the game.

That tie would hold up for a while before the Huskies would take their lead back once more, thanks to Taysen Holt once again with just under six minutes left. Now down by one with the final minutes of the game closing in, but Wawota would stay calm and tie it up only two minutes later when Kayla Swanson would fire one passed Tyler Myers.

The game would stay tied through the end of the third and overtime would be needed, and Kayle Swanson would again play hero for the Flyers and put them up for their first and only time of the game, giving them the win.

FINAL SCORE: Wawota 5 - 4 Oxbow (OT)

Wawota jumps ahead of the Huskies by another point in the standings, and with quite a few games left in the second half of the season, the Flyers still have room to climb in the standings. Wawota still sits I the survivor series right now, but they could overtake the Bienfait Coalers and even the rest of the league if they can go on a run by the end of the season.

The Huskies are still sitting in the third last spot in the league, looking like they will play the Kipling/Windthorst Oil Kings in the survivor series for the  final two playoff spots.

Yellow Grass @ Carnduff

The two teams at the top of the league, the Carlyle Cougars and the Yellow Grass Wheat Kings, looked to do battle. The Cougars could tie things back up at the top of the league, while the Wheat Kings looked to extend their lead at the top of the league.

Unfortunately, the Cougars didn't put up much of a fight. Yellow Grass scored four straight goals to start the game off thanks to Mike Onstad, Drew Fellner, Brendon Vertefeuille, and Braden Mellon.

The second period would be a little more contentious. Halfway through the season, the Wheat Kings would extend their lead a little more when Justin Richter would score, but the Cougars would get that right back when Ty Currie would get the first and only goal for the Cougars.

The third period would again be just as dominant for the Wheat Kings as it was for the first. The Wheat Kings would score five more goals, and all from different sources. Devin Cobbold, Brendon Vertefeuille's second, Devon Johnson, Brad Reige, and finally Shelby Gray would all add tallies for his team by the end of the game.

FINAL SCORE: Yellow Grass 10 - 1 Carlyle

The loss is the worst for the Cougars all year long, and they'll have a rematch coming up on Thursday on CJ1150.

Carnduff @ Kipling/Windthorst

Carnduff has been left in the standings a little bit as they did have the league lead earlier in the season, but coming into this game they sit down in fifth. The Oil Kings sit just above the Combines at the bottom of the league.

The Red Devils would enter fourth in the league with a win, and they wouldn't have much trouble getting there. Six straight goals would lift them over the Oil Kings, all from different sources.

In the first, they'd come from Tanner Reynolds and Mark Moriarty. In the second, another three would come from Blake McMillen, Callan Carlton, and Sheldon Thompson.

The final goal of the game would again be the Red Devils in the third period, Jason Boyes would cap off the big win for the Red Devils.

FINAL SCORE: Carnduff 6 - 0 Kipling/Windthorst

Saturday

Kipling/Windthorst @ Midale

For Midale, the night before they were just passed by the Carnduff Red Devils and with a win would tie up with them again with a win. As for the Oil Kings, they needed a win to try and jump over the Oxbow Huskies by the end of the season.

Seven minutes into the game, the Mustangs would take control when they got the game's first goal thanks to Braden Kmita. Another two goals would come for the Mustangs, Connor Burk and Steven Lindenbach.

The Oil Kings would fire back in the first period when Aaron Roth would score with just over three minutes left in the frame, and with eight seconds left Matt Bean would bring his team back to within one.

The game would stay close in the second period once again, but Brayden Ganson would score once more to put the Mustangs up by two once more, but with just over a minute left, Matt Bean would score once more to make it a one goal game.

The third period would turn the game from a close back and forth battle, to a one sided affair. Tyler Hoium, Garrett Sherlock, Matt Geske, and Connor Burk's second would put the Mustangs up by five to win the game by a score that made the game look more one sided than the entire game showed.

FINAL SCORE: Midale 8 - 3 Kipling/Windthorst

Sunday

Redvers @ Carnduff

One of the most important games near the end of the schedule, the second rematch of the season between the Rockets and Red Devils could be the difference between the Rockets making first place in the league or not. As for Carnduff, a win would move them into second place along with Redvers and Carlyle.

The first period would start off with a few big hits and some penalties as well. The Red Devils would start the scoring off when Nico Anderson would park himself in front of the net on the power play, and just as Redvers' man left, Anderson would tip the puck in for the game's first goal.

Then, between powerplays, Blake McMillen would blast a shot in from the point passed Thomas Bauche and put the Red Devils up by two. Then, McMillen would add another goal, again on the powerplay, but this one would squeak through a little less clean.

The first period wouldn't be all bad for Redvers as Kenton Miller would score for the Rockets by breaking down the left side of the ice and fire a laser of a wrist shot past Cody Dumaine.

In the second, the penalty troubles would continue for the Rockets as Nico Anderson would score another goal for his team on the 5 on 3 power play, and then the Rockets would get a power play chance. Their power play would not work out, as the puck would be sent down towards Thomas Bauche and he would leave his net to play it, but Sheldon Thompson would rush down and poke it passed Bauche to put his team up 5-1.

The Rockets would finally get a goal on the power play when again a wrist shot would beat the glove of Cody Dumaine, this time courtesy of Dakota Rose.

In the third, the Red Devils would add to their lead once more thanks to a goal from Brandon Trask when he rang a wrist shot off the cross bar and in from the top of the circle. Kenton Miller would get that goal back once again, but on the penalty kill, the Red Devils would score once more. A long stretch pass from Tanner Reynolds fired up on to Trevor Geiger's stick and spring him on the breakaway, giving him a chance to score and he wouldn't miss, putting his team up 7-3.

FINAL SCORE: Carnduff 7 - 4 Redvers
