After the upset on Friday night between Kipling/Windthorst and Carlyle, there were three games left to go on the opening weekend of the second half of the Big Six season.

Saturday

Redvers @ Kipling/Windthorst

Fresh off defeating the #1 team in the league to start off the second half of their inaugural season, the Kipling/Windthorst Oil Kings were faced with another tough challenge in last year's, the Redvers Rockets.

The Oil Kings played a tough defensive match the night before that may have tired them out for the game the next night, as the Rockets blasted ahead early on. Just as the clock was about to strike five minutes into the game, Dakota Rose put his first of the game past Trustyn McKay, who was supposed to start the night before but made a game time decision to sit the game out.

This would be the start of a long run for the Rockets, that being the first of five goals the visiting team would score in just over six minutes, thanks to an even strength goal from John Patapinski, and three powerplay goals from Craig Gaudet, Dakota Rose's second of the game, and Gavin Martel.

After the onslaught, Caley Bjork would stop the bleeding for just a little bit as he'd make the score 5-1 to cut into the lead.

The rally would last just under two minutes before Kenton Miller would add another for Redvers, this time on the penalty kill to extend the lead once more.

After the first, 6-1 Redvers.

In the second, Redvers' attack would start once again when Todd Gervais would score just under three minutes in. Less than a minute later, Todd Gervais would continue to build up the lead.

The scoring from there would stop for a while for both teams until only 5:31 to go in the period. The home town Oil Kings would get some help from Aaron Roth as he'd pot the second of the game for his team.

That goal wouldn't spark a come back, but instead would be a kick in the pants to get the Rockets back into take off mode. Three more goals would come in the last five minutes, Craig Gaudet, Remi Lamotte, and Brady Fidierchuck adding their first of the game.

After another lop-sided period, it's 11-2 Redvers.

The third period wouldn't change much other than inflate both team's scores a bit more. The Rockets would score once more from Dustin Purvis, five minutes and a second in, before the Oil Kings would come back again.

Matt Bean, who scored a beautiful, hard working goal the game before, would claw his team back once again with another goal.

Seconds later, Remi Lamotte would score his second of the game, and three minutes later Kenton Miller would add his second of the game as well.

Another quick strike off the faceoff would happen, this time for the Oil Kings when he scored his second.

Redvers would get a penalty near the end of the game, but they would be the ones to capotalize when Dakota Rose would cap off the hat trick.

FINAL SCORE: 15-4 Redvers

Redvers had nine seperate goal scorers in the one sided afair, and Dakota Rose's hat trick would include goals at even strength, on the power play, and short handed.

Yellow Grass @ Midale

Yellow Grass has been one of the top teams in the league for almost the entire year, sitting two games back of the Carlyle Cougars to start off the weekend. Midale came into this game on a three game winning streak to finish off the first half of the season and were one of the hottest teams in the league when they stopped for the break.

Midale would continue their hot scoring streak, albeit it took them eight minutes to do so, but Brad Tomiski would open up the scoring fo his team once more on the powerplay in a game between two team that played like they did not like each other. Unlike the other matchup, the goals in this game would be a bit fewer, but much further in between as the Mustangs would have to wait until 5:47 left in the period to score their second, another powerplay goal coming from Ethan Orstead.

The two goal lead would be obliterated only two minutes later by the Wheat Kings as Shelby Gray would score two quick ones for his team, the second on the powerplay.

After the first, 2-2.

Then second would start off the opposite of the period before, when Yellow Grass opened the scoring. Devin Cobbold would score his team's only goal of the period to give them a 3-2 lead just under five minutes into the frame.

The Mustangs would strike back fairly quickly however, another goal from Brad Tomiski would come under six minutes later, and Konrad Prozack would score again before the end of the period to reclaim the lead in favour of the Mustangs.

After two, 4-3 Midale.

The third period would be the highest scoring of the game, but the game would stay just as tight as it had throughout the first two. Yellow Grass was dealing with a two minute cross checking call on Shelby Gray before with two seconds to go, and in the powerplay that carried over to the third, Rylan Kolke would score to put the Mustangs up by two,

The goal scorers would take a brekad for the next nine minutes before the Wheat Kings would get their fourth of the game, Reid Paterson scored his first of the game.

Only a minute and fifty three seconds later, Taylor Vandesype would put the Mustangs back up by two.

From there, it became desperation hockey for the Wheat Kings as they'd have to pull their goaltender, and hope seemed lost until Devon Johnson would score to bring his team back to within one with only 15 seconds on the clock.

The Wheat Kings would keep Terrick Wildeman out of the net and press for the final seconds of the game, but it would all end when Steven Lindenbach would score on the empty net for his second of the game with two seconds on the clock to put the Mustangs back up by two.

FINAL SCORE: 7-5 Mustangs

Sunday

Redvers @ Yellow Grass

In the only game on Sunday night, the Yellow Grass Wheat Kings and the Redvers Rockets both playing in their second game of the weekend were looking to climb the standings just a little bit more.

Despite these two teams coming in fairly hot to the game, it would not be the tough game everyone expected coming in. The first period would be fairly quiet, the only highlight coming from Troy Miller as he scored the period's only goal 9:20 into the frame.

After on, 1-0 Yellow Grass

From there, the penalties would start to rack up in the second, and although Yellow Grass took the majority, they fired three goals behind Thomas Bauche to put the Wheat Kings up thanks to Tucker Neuberger, Mike Onstad, and Kyle Myrglod.

The Mustangs would score once in the period late, a lone goal from Brady Fidierchuck.

After two, 4-1 Yellow Grass.

The third period would only add to Yellow Grass' lead as they would score three more to end the lopsided afair when Justin Richter would score, followed by Brendon Vertefeulle, and the second of the game for Kyle Myrglod.

FINAL SCORE: 7-1 Yellow Grass
