Wild and varied were the results seen in Saturday night's Big Six Hockey League action as three matches took place, each with a different type of outcome.

The Bienfait Coalers hosted the struggling Carlyle Cougars in what turned out to be a rather one sided, high scoring affair.

The home squad practically wore out the back of the net in the first period, setting the tone for the rest of the match by dumping 7 unanswered goals past Cougar netminder Kruize Wilson. Thanks to Ty Currie and Brent McLean, Carlyle was able to avoid a shutout by the second frame, however, Bienfait didn't let the reduced lead last for long. 3 more goals for the Coalers took the pair into the third period, where things kept going downhill for the visitors. By the time the exhausted scoreboard was able to rest after the final buzzer, it read a final 14-3 decision for Bienfait.

The exact opposite type of game was seen down the road as the Redvers Rockets paid a visit to the championship defending Wawota Flyers.

It took until the second frame for one of the two teams to score, and it would eventually Kevin Mann for the Rockets who opened the door. The lead was held by Redvers until Justin Lamontagne tied it up for Wawota. It took a shootout to decide a winner between the pair, and Redvers' Jordan Miller finally managed to sneak another one past Guillaume Blouin to end things 2-1.

In the third game of the night, the Yellow Grass Wheat Kings hosted the Oxbow Huskies.

While both teams headed into the locker room for the first intermission tied 1-1, the match took a very different turn in the second frame.

5 pucks netted by the Wheat Kings, answered by two from the Huskies set the course for the night. Matt Wienrauch and Braden Brock gave Oxbow a closer game, but Brendon Vertefeulle ensured an 8-5 victory for Yellow Grass.
