The Estevan Bruins spent most of the game playing from behind on Sunday, November 11 in Humboldt. The Broncos made them pay for it, despite another late goal from Bryce Platt, as the Bruins fell 3-2.

Platt and Kolton Leslie scored the Bruin goals, while Grant Boldt posted 27 saves in a losing effort. Broncos goalie Dane Dow was excellent, making 38 saves. Derek Patter, Brayden Camrud and Cole Kirkup scored for Humboldt.

The only goal of the opening frame went to the Broncos, as Patter corralled a rolling puck that had bounced out to him off the end wall and fired it past Boldt, off the post and in for his fourth of the year. The Bruins pressed hard for an answer but came up empty in the opening frame.

More pressure from the Bruins marked the start of the second, but it was the Broncos who struck first on a 5-on-3 advantage. The Bruins blocked two shots in a row before the Broncos switched tactics, feeding a pass across the crease to Camrud for the tap in.

It took the Bruins only 3:12 to respond. Off a rush, Eddie Gallagher took a shot that created a rebound, which Jayden Davis immediately went after. Davis wasn't able to score, but Leslie was, chopping it between the legs of Dow for his first SJHL goal.

In the opening 15 seconds of the third, the Broncos got their insurance goal. The Bruins turned the puck over in tight, and Kirkup had two whacks at it before he was able to beat Boldt to the far post. It would prove to be the game-winning goal. Platt brought the Bruins within one off a goalmouth scramble with just 25 seconds to play, but the Bruins came no closer and dropped their second in a row.

The Bruins fall back to .500, sitting at 12-12 on the year after the loss. They will take a grand total of two days off before a stretch of three games in four night begins on Wednesday against the Notre Dame Hounds.

GAME NOTES

The Bruins are now 4-8 on the year on the road, giving them the eighth-best road record in the league. Their home record of 8-4 is sixth overall.

Grant Bold posted a .900 save percentage, marking the fifth straight game a Bruins netminder has posted a save percentage of .900 or better. Jake Anthony and Grant Boldt have combined for a GAA of less than 2.00 in those games.
