Two empty netters in the third sealed the deal for the Power Dodge Estevan Bruins, as they fell to the SJHL-leading Battleford North Stars by a score of 6-3.

A quiet start to the first period for the most part. The North Stars were on the defensive with the Bruins trying to break through their wall of players. However, it would be the visitors getting on the board first.

Battleford's Kendall Fransoo shot one past Nathan Alalouf to mark the first goal of the game. Layne Young wasted no time, as he added another goal on the scoreboard, making it 2-0 for the visitors. In the last ten seconds of the period, Keaton Holinaty got it past the Bruins netminder by potting it up on the top left corner to make it 3-0.

The black-and-gold were a different team when they returned for the second period. Captain Lynnden Pastachak was responsible for the Bruins' first goal of the night two minutes in. Then, Josh Rieger came back and got it past the North Stars' goalie, Taryn Kotchorek.

It would be McGregor Sinclair that scored the lone goal for the visitors in the second period. Since there was a scrum on the right side of Alalouf, Sinclair took the chance and tapped the puck to his left past Alalouf giving the North Stars another goal and a 4-2 lead after two periods.

That would remain the score until the final few minutes of the game when the Bruins attempted a comeback. Jason Miller scored his 19th of the year with assists from Matt McNeil and Hayden Guilderson.

In the last minute of play, Estevan pulled their goaltender for an extra attacker, but that would backfire. A couple of empty netters from Sinclair sealed the deal for the home team's loss.

Then, the emotional night ended with some rough stuff as in the last ten seconds of the game, Guilderson, Pastachak and Rieger from Estevan fought Battleford's Troy Gerein, Connor Manager, and Ryan Rosenburg.

The Bruins have a week to practice until their next game on January 11th, when they head to Melville to face the Millionaires.
