Power Dodge Estevan Bruins forward Michael McChesney has been named SJHL player of the week.

After leading the SJHL/MJHL Showcase in scoring with three goals, the 19-year-old picked up where he left off and helped lead the Bruins to a pair of wins over their Highway 39 rivals from Weyburn.

On Friday night at Affinity Place, the SJHL's largest crowd of the season (1,426) was treated to an offensive onslaught. McChesney opened the scoring and then capped off a three goal, 31 second rally with his second of the night to lift the Bruins up 3-0. He added his third point of the night on a Zach Goberis second period goal in a 6-1 victory.

McChesney chipped in an assist and iced the game on Saturday night in Weyburn with his empty netter, giving the Bruins a 5-3 win on the road.

Although player of the week recognition comes from his efforts in two wins over the Red Wings, the right winger has been on fire as of late, scoring six goals in as many games while adding two assists.

With 23 goals and 23 assists on the season, McChesney has already beat his pace from last year on his way to 46 points in 40 games to sit 9th in league scoring.

The Bruins travel to Yorkton on Wednesday for their last meeting of the season, inside Farrell Agencies Arena at 7:30 p.m.
