The Estevan Bruins high-flying offense has led to banner seasons for many of their players, and six of those players were rewarded with a spot in the SJHL/MJHL Showcase.

At 10:00 in the morning on January 11, the SJHL announced the rosters for their series of cross-province games pitting their best players against the best of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. Kaelan Holt, Hayden Guilderson, Zach Goberis, Michael McChesney, Johnny Witzke, and Jake Heerspink will represent the Bruins at the event on January 15 and 16 in Regina.

Goberis, the Bruins leading scorer, is second in the SJHL with 59 points in just 40 games, and leads the league in goals with 26. The 20-year-old is in his third year as a Bruin and has already more than doubled his previous career-high in goals. He leads the SJHL in both power play and shorthanded goals as well.

Holt, 20, the Bruins second leading scorer, sits fourth in the SJHL with 23 goals on the year. His 48 points are good for fifth in the league. He is one of two Estevan-born players in the game, joined by the MJHL's Kyle Salaway of the Virden Oil Capitals.

McChesney attended Canada West's camp for the World Junior A Challenge this year. He is the third Bruin with over 20 goals on the year, and has matched last year's point total of 41 in 19 fewer games. The 19-year-old Dickinson, ND native is one of just four Bruins with a shorthanded goal, and is third on the team with five power play goals.

Guilderson, 20, is in the midst of a career season with the Bruins with 14 goals and 41 points in 40 games. He and Goberis are the only two forwards on the Bruins to play in every game this year. In his second season with the Bruins he has outdone his goal and point totals from the previous year in 18 fewer games. He played all 58 games with the Bruins last year as well.

Witzke, 19, is the Bruins leading scorer among defensemen with six goals and thirty points on the season, good for fifth among all SJHL defensemen. He has played all 40 games for the Bruins this year, one of just two Bruin defenders to do so. He also has two power play goals and an overtime game winner over the course of the season.

Heerspink, 19, is the other defenseman to play in every game for Estevan. With 5 goals and 29 points on the year, he trails Witzke by just one point for the team lead among defensemen. He also leads the Bruins with 11 power play assists.

The showcase games will take place in Regina on January 15 and 16, and will feature three all-star squads from each of the MJHL and SJHL.
