The Estevan Bruins walked away from game 2 with the Kindersley Klippers a little sore, but happy with a 3-2 win and a 2-0 lead in the series.

Zach Goberis scored his second of the series, and Michael McChesney added a pair of power play tallies in the second period, including the winner with just 22 seconds to play in the frame, as Estevan won their second straight over the Klippers. Bo Didur again stood tall, making 25 saves on 27 shots.

The Klippers didn't make things easy on Estevan, getting a breakaway goal from Cole Plotnikoff in the first and a hard-working power play goal from Keillan Olson in the second to keep the game close. The Bruins hung on for the win, however.

HIGHLIGHTS:

Goberis got the scoring started midway through the first with a bullet of a shot high to the blocker side. Arthur Miller, who finished with two assists, held the puck in on the wall, then cut his way toward the middle, drawing two Klippers to him before dishing off to Goberis. Goberis made no mistake from the slot to get the Bruins up early.

Kindersley had the score tied before the period was out, when Plotnikoff knocked down a bouncing puck and took off on a partial breakaway, opening up the five-hole on Didur for his first of the series.

Early in the second Estevan restored their lead on a power play as Johnny Witzke dangled past a sprawling Klippers defender, then hit McChesney back door with a slap-pass for the easy marker. It was McChesney's first of the playoffs as well.

Estevan fell into penalty trouble not long after, however, and Olson made them pay. He and Nik Malenica banged away in tight as they both dug for a rebound, and it was Olson who flipped it past Didur and in.

At the very end of the period, however, after Jake Fletcher drew a penalty following a big hit, McChesney took the puck out of a scramble off the draw, stepped to his right and outweighted his checker into good shooting position, ripping one low-glove past Justen Close. McChesney was named the game's first star.

That was all the scoring the Bruins needed as they hung on for the win in the third. Didur shot the door with some help from his defense, and Estevan took a 2-0 lead in the series, which now shifts to Kindersley on Tuesday night. Catch that game on Rock 106.

GAME NOTES

McChesney's two goals were the seventh and eighth playoff goals of his career in just 11 games. He now has 13 points in those postseason contests.

Arthur Miller drew two assists on the night in his first playoff game as a Bruin. He spent the entire game with his usual linemates, and earned the primary assist on a goal for each of McChesney and Goberis.

The Bruins were without Aigne McGeady-Bruce due to an injury and Austen King-Cunningham left in the third period following his third minor penalty. McGeady-Bruce is not likely to be available for Tuesday night.
