The Estevan Bruins and Yorkton Terriers will play a total of eight games against each other before 2018-19 is over, and seven of those games will take place in the usual venues of Affinity Place and Farrel Agencies Arena. On Saturday, November 17, they played the one that wasn't.

In the neutral site of Canora, the Bruins and Terriers resumed their struggle for first place in the Viterra Division. This time it was Yorkton that came out on top, getting goals from Chantz Petruic, Cole Keenlyside, Jared Legien, and Tyson Janzen. Jake Heerspink and Michael McChesney answered for Estevan, who fall to 13-13-1 on the year.

The Bruins began the scoring in the first period, to the disappointment of the Terrier-leaning crowd. Heerspink gained the Yorkton line and snapped off a quick wrister to the top corner for his seventh.

The pro-Terrier crowd didn't wait long to cheer, however, as Colby Brandt walked over the Bruins line on an odd-man rush and shot for a rebound, which Petruic burried. Then, on the power play, Keenlyside dangled his way off the wall and ripped a shot under the bar for a lead the Terriers would never surrender.

In the second period, Legien became the first Terrier to 20 goals when he snuck behind the Bruins defense and wired a wrister past Grant Boldt for a 3-1 lead. From their it was Terrier goalie Ben Laidlaw's show, as he made numerous tough saves, including one on McChesney at 4-on-4 to preserve a two-goal lead.

McChesney would get one past Laidlaw eventually, but by then Yorkton had already increased their lead. Early in the first, Janzen picked off a clearing attempt and sniped his third of the year from just inside the blue line. McChesney's goal got the Bruins back within two, but by then there were just 47 seconds left, and that was close as the Bruins got.

With the loss, the Bruins watch as the Terriers creep closer to them for top spot in the division. The two teams will face off again on Tuesday, November 20, in Yorkton. The game will air on Rock 106.
