Team Canada had 18 different players find the scoresheet on their way to a one-sided 14-0 win over Denmark in the opening game at the 2018 IIHF World Junior Championship.

Moose Jaw Warriors captain Josh Brook picked up an assist for Canada in the win.

Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds forward Morgan Forst had two goals and three points in the first period as Canada opened up a big early lead. He finished with a hat trick and five points in the win.

Captain Maxime Comtois tied the Canadian record with four goals in the opening game. The Drummondville Voltigeurs forward scored 45 seconds in the second and Canada would put five goals into the net to take an 8-0 lead after two. 

Comtois would add three more goals in the third period as Canada found the back of the net six times in the period to finish off the lopsided win.

Portland Winterhawks forward Cody Glass had four assists, Prince Albert Raiders forward Brett Leason picked up a goal and three points, London Knights defenceman Evan Bouchard finished with three assists, while Barrett Hayton from the Greyhounds and Oshawa Generals forward Jack Studnicka had a goal and two points each.

Hamilton Bulldogs forward MacKenzie Entwistle finished off the scoring for Canada with 3:13 to play in the third.

The Canadians outshot Denmark 42-12 as goalie Michael DiPietro earned the shutout in goal and also picked up an assist.

Canada will return to the ice on Thursday when they take on Switzerland in the second game of the round robin. Puck drops at 7 p.m. from Rogers Arena in Vancouver.

In other Day 1 action at the World Juniors, the Czech Republic edged Switzerland 2-1 in overtime and the United States topped Slovakia 2-1.
