It's a day that the members of the current and past Carlyle Cardinals squad won't forget for quite a while. The group was inducted into the team category of the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame during a ceremony in Battlefords on Saturday.

"It's a tremendous honor, something we didn't have in the back of our minds or anything that we were looking to get one day, it just kind of popped up," said Coach Brent McLean, "It was a great thing that happened to the team and community."

"It was a great ceremony...I think there was twelve individual inductees, and a community, and our team as well, so it was a big day for everybody that was up there."

He added that the moment they were standing and receiving their plaques was a 'great feeling', and 'great to share with everybody.'

David Lemieux, the President of the Saskota Baseball League, noted that Carlyle's past success became noticed, and their hard work over the years was paying off.

Now, however, the Cardinals have a new job ahead of them. Along the lines of the famous phrase often associated with Spiderman, 'With great 'honor' comes great responsibility.'

"One of the big things about organizations like the Sask Baseball Hall of Fame is that it's a lot of volunteers. They kind of share the same passions, so they're just trying to preserve and continue on to keep the interest. I think, by being part of an organization like that, there is an obligation for us who are still playing the game a little bit, you've just got to go out there and do it the right way, spend the time with the kids that are at the ballpark...Essentially lead by example, and that's enough to foster the game in the area," said Lemieux.
