Carnduff is one excited community, as three of their young ball players have been selected to represent the province on a national level.

Carter Beck, Callum Hollinger and Aiden Trimble play with the Peewee Carnduff Astros, and they've been selected to Team Sask to compete in the U13 Baseball Canada national championships August 23-26 in Woodstock, Ontario.

The selection process took a while. They were among 120 players attending a Baseball Sask tryout back in May, and from there were invited to join 26 kids for a second camp. Last week, the trio found out they were among those that made the cut.

"We're very excited. It's an unreal opportunity for a few kids from a small town to get to go and play ball on a national level, and travel and be part of Team Saskatchewan," expressed Coach Blair Beck, who proceeded to break down his analysis of each player.

"This year, Callum (Hollinger) has really blossomed into an elite starting pitcher. He hits the ball real well. He's had a real good year for us. They're probably looking at him mostly to pitch and play a little outfield."

"Aiden Trimble will make the team mainly as a pitcher as well, and he'll play some outfielder too. Again, he's been a real strong player for us all year."

"Carter Beck catches, and he'll play a little bit of infield," he said.

Beck is also Carter's father, and a proud one at that.

"I know the work he puts in, he loves the game and works hard at it. Yeah, I'm real proud of him for sure."

"Just to see that three guys from a small town are being looked at by Baseball Sask is really encouraging, and we're really proud of it," he added.
