It was a bit of a tough weekend for Estevan Minor Football, with both teams in action finding steep losses on the field.

The Bantam Oilers played EMF's first home game of the year at Woodlawn, hosting the Weyburn Falcons Friday evening. That tilt ended in a 45-0 defeat for Estevan.

"Weyburn came down here and played a really good game. They exploited some of the soft spots that we had with player rotation and stuff like that, and players playing new positions," shared Head Coach Paul Duncan, "Going forward with us, it's more about attention to detail, a little bit more conditioning for us, and just keeping pushing forward that way."

He added that they'll be refining the aggression level and eliminating the hesitation among the first time players, as well as making sure they get the ball off in time. With a team hurting for numbers, fatigue will be an enemy to contend with. Nevertheless, Duncan said that the Oilers will carry on.

Meanwhile, the Peewee Chargers hit the road to Assiniboia, where they were able to only find six points against the Rockets, falling 40-6 on Saturday.

"We did really well. All the kids worked hard, and everything's starting to come together," stated Head Coach Jason Bresciani, "The score didn't really relate to the way they played."

"We had about a 50 yard interception for a touchdown, the defense had 4 or 5 quarterback sacks, and a lot of stops for a loss of yards, so they stepped up and played really well. The offence is starting to move the football, gaining positive yardage, they're starting to work together."

Both teams are back in action on September 15th. The Oilers get the rubber match with Weyburn, while the Chargers meet Weyburn a couple hours later.
