The Estevan Curling club played host to a bunch of teams over the weekend.

The Senior District Highschool Playdowns took place over the weekend, teams from all over the school district showed up to throw rocks and have a good time. it was jam-packed with twenty teams competing for a spot at regionals in Yorkton. club manager Pauline Ziehl-Grimsrud gave us some of the results.

"In the girl's division, the Weyburn Comprehensive School won out on the A side. On the B side the Moosomin team number 2 won out and they'll have 2 representatives going to the regionals in Yorkton on March first and second. On the boys side the Weyburn Comprehensive team 1 was the champion on the A side and on the B side was the Weyburn Comprehensive team number 2. So they will also be going to regionals in March. In the mixed division, the Estevan Comprehensive School had two teams competing. ECS team number 1 beat Ogema in the A final, they will be going on to Yorkton as well. On the B side, the Estevan team number 2 faced Lampman in the semifinal. Lampman was victorious and went on to win the B side against Ogema."

Pauline went on to say how excited she is for regionals and is wishing the teams from Estevan all the best. 

"We wish good luck to everybody when they head off to regionals in March. I think we have a lot of really good curling here in the southeast corner, it showed by the quality of play over the weekend and I'm looking forward to heading to Yorkton in March."

The SHSAA regionals take place March first and second in Yorkton and is put on by the school district.
