The Estevan Comprehensive School Elecs basketball team were not quite able to pull a another win out of the bag in the 5A Girls Regional Playoffs held in Estevan. However, it was enough to land them in the second place slot, and give them a place in the provincials.

"We feel good about it. We stayed with the first place team right until halftime, and then I think we just ran out of gas," noted Manager and tournament Commissioner Stacey Dutka.

After a 62-49 win over the Prince Albert St. Mary's on Friday night, they faced Notre Dame in the morning on Saturday, and came out with a 74-69 victory. That brought them to game three, which ended up in a 69-53 loss to the Prince Albert Carlton.

"After we beat Notre Dame, it was a huge high. It was hard to keep that energy and momentum up for final game."

Dutka related that their strongest point was their team effort, with every girl giving her all.

The Elecs have advanced to HOOPLA, the provincial basketball competition in Regina from March 23 - 25.
