The ECS Elecs Senior Boys Volleyball squad proved a contender over the weekend, despite not returning home with any hardware from a tournament in Swift Current.

They started off 3-0 on Friday, beating North Battleford in two straight with both scores at 14, defeating Prince Albert Carlton by scores of 18 and 19, and thumping Oxbow by scores of 15 and 13.

The momentum carried over into the next day when they emerged victorious over Swift Current in three sets, however, two straight losses to Balgonie and 3 very close sets to Saskatoon Centennial just kept them out of the playoffs, with a 4-2 record.

"I think it was a pretty good weekend. We were missing one of our key guys, but everybody picked up some slack and everybody scored some points," shared Coach Kevin Perkins, "I think at the end, maybe we ran out of gas. Everybody played, there was no real substitutions on the bench...maybe by the fifth or sixth match getting a little bit gassed."

"Saturday morning was probably our best victory. We beat Swift Current...they're a great team, the best in the province, and we battled. We battled hard and the kids never gave up, it was fun to watch."

The Elecs head off to Brandon next weekend for the first time in an invitational tournament.
