The ECS Elecs got their first taste of action outside of lining up against each other on Friday, as they visited Weyburn for a controlled scrimmage.

The activity involves 100 plays, 50 for offense and ditto for defense, running them in groupings of ten. The coaching staff slowly rotates their new players through the lineup in the various groupings, to see how they perform in a game environment.

"It was 7-7 for most of the game. We scored on our opening drive of 10 offensive plays, and Weyburn scored on theirs as well. Then as both teams started to work in some of the younger players and rookies, Weyburn was able to put up a few more touchdowns and they ended up coming away with a 28-7 win," shared Head Coach Mark Schott.

"We were really happy with what we saw. Obviously, there's things that we can improve upon, and that's what this next week and a half, that's what we're going to do. We worked on some open field tackling Monday, and just sharpening up our offensive and defensive system will be the focus here over the next couple of days."

In the meantime, Schott opens up the doors to anyone returning to school to join the team. More players are always welcome, he said, and interested individuals can simply stop by at practice after school.
