The ECS Elecs senior boys volleyball team put on a show for the home town crowd last night at the comp, as they defeated the Weyburn Eagles in round two of the Co-op Challenge, 3-1.

"That's as well as we have played this year," explained the boys Head Coach Nathan Johnson. "We played really strong until it was 12-8 in the third set and then we had a lapse, they made us pay for it and then it was pretty close in the fourth where we were down for a while and managed to win a close one. Our attacking was great, we had a number of guys provide good offense for us. For the most part I think we served pretty well, much better than we have been so we can be pleased with that."

Johnson also spoke about playing in front of the home crowd.

"It was an awesome atmosphere, lots of kids out to watch and support our athletes. It's a great event for the school."

The boys will now prepare for the Regina Campbell Tournament starting on Friday, October 13th.

The senior girls were swept in straight sets for the second straight week on Wednesday night.

Although it didn't go in their favor, the ECS Elecs senior girls team had a better showing in part two of the Challenge.

"I was going to be very happy if we played better than last week and that's exactly what they did," said the girls Head Coach Nicole Sinclair. "Our first set was our best set and we were meshing well as a team, we were passing well and our serving was on. Overall we came out and played a lot better than last week."

"The home town crowd definitely helps a little bit, but I think their minds were in it more and that helped."

The girls will shift their focus to the Yorkton Sacred Heart Tournament, getting underway on Friday, October 13th.
