The ECS Elecs senior girls volleyball team has come oh so close this season to winning a number of tournaments, and the same could be said for this past weekend in Yorkton at Sacred Heart High School.

This time at the Lady Saints Invitational, Melfort would get the best of the Elecs girls as they were defeated in straight sets of the tournament final.

"We started off the weekend really well," explained the girls Head Coach Nicole Sinclair. "It was nice to comeback and beat Sacred Heart after losing to them in the beginning of the season. We played 6 games in our round robin and pushed hard through every single game, it was nice to see the improvement over the last few weeks, especially after the losses in the Co-op Challenge."

To get there, the girls would make a strong push in the round robin.

Elecs win: 27-25, 25-20 over Yorkton Sacred Heart
Elecs split: 12-25, 25-19 against Esterhazy
Elecs lose: 17-25, 23-25 to Melfort
Elecs split: 25-18, 20-25 against Yorkton Regional
Elecs win: 25-23, 25-20 over Langenburg
Elecs lose: 15-25, 10-25 to Foam Lake

Following round robin play, the girls would go on to defeat the host Sacred Heart in straight sets 25-20, 25-18 for the second time in the tournament.

With a trip to the finals on the line, ECS would defeat Langenburg for the second time as well, this time 25-22, 27-25.

Melfort would get the best of the Elecs for the second time in the tournament, winning in straight sets 12-25 and 24-26.

"We took everything we learned from our practices and put it into our games, our defense was really great which resulted in second place for us. Hopefully we can come out on top in the next one," Sinclair concluded.
