Despite being months away, excitement is building around the ECS Elecs football team and their upcoming season.

Their annual spring camp runs this Monday to Friday, which saw one of their best turnouts take to the field on Monday. Getting players reunited and acclimated with one another was one of the main goals on day one, which according to Head Coach Mark Schott, was a success.

"Our turn out was fantastic, we had about 40 players," explained Elecs Head Coach, Mark Schott. "Some were from the Estevan Bantam Oilers, we brought them to our camp to expand the football family and increase familiarity. We spent a lot of Monday on proper tackling technique so everyone can participate in drills safely and be effective at tackling the opponent."

"From a players perspective, it's nice to get on the field and become familiar with the new players and get use to some of the tweaks we're planning to make. Mainly it's to reestablish the connection between players."

Not only does spring camp benefit the players, it gives coaches an idea of what they'll be working with as the team approaches training camp at the end of August.

"It gives us coaches a sense of our team moving forward into the fall. It allows us to plan our team systems accordingly based on the personnel we're expecting. It's a really important thing for us as coaches to take away from spring camp."

"We've had a lot of buzz within our school along with the surround schools we have partnerships with and that buzz has led to a great turnout. We're expecting more players to come out over the next couple of days, it's definitely been exciting for us coaches and the players," Schott concluded.

This season will mark the 10th year of Elecs football and the 7th for Head Coach Mark Schott.

Elecs training camp typically begins the last week of August.
