The Estevan Curling Club is in the midst of preparing the Power Dodge Curling Centre for another very busy season on the sheets.

"We've started to build the ice and we're excited to get things going mid-October this year," explained Manager of the Estevan Curling Club, Pauline Ziehl Grimsrud.

Curling will take over the ice surface at Affinity Place from January 31st - February 4th, 2018.

"Were going to be running the leagues that we have found to be so successful. We have our competitive league on Tuesday, our recreational league on Wednesday evenings and our open league on Thursday evenings. Monday and Wednesday afternoons were going to continue with our afternoon curling, and we also have three youth programs with Co-op kids on Sunday, youth program on Tuesday and our ECS curling."

It was announced in December of 2016 that CURLSASK awarded the 2018 SaskTel Tankard to the community of Estevan, with the men's provincial playdowns being held on the Affinity Place ice surface from January 31 - February 4th, 2018.

"We're very excited at the club to host the men's tankard, it's an honor to be awarded this. We have a great committee that is working hard to get this planned and of course we will be moving over to Affinity Place so its a change for us. We're thankful to the city for all the help they are giving us and we are just extremely excited for this opportunity."

"We also have the CURLSASK tour men's event in December that will have the winner earn a spot in the Tankard. The women's CURLSASK Last Challenge will also take place in December, along with a number of bonspiels coming up in the new year. There is definitely a lot going on and any one who wants to join curling or volunteer for an event can call the curling club at 306-634-3391."
