Another season of high school football is about to kick off in southeast Saskatchewan, and the Estevan Elecs are now back on the field honing old skills and learning new ones.

"We're really optimistic about a good season, and we're hoping that a lot of new and old students will come back to join the team," stated Defensive Coordinator James Jones.

"Our first preseason game is going to be September 1st, here at Woodlawn Field against Weyburn. We're going to be practicing hard to prepare for that."

That said, the rosters aren't full. The group could use 10 to 15 more players, however, they will accept any number of interested individuals.

"We were really encouraged by the number of students who came out to pick up equipment, I think we had about 24 to 25. But we would welcome as many players as we can get, we don't turn anybody away," Jones said.

"We would encourage anybody in Estevan or the surrounding area that's an eligible player to consider joining. You need no experience. We're just looking to welcome new folks to the team."
